Méribel snowshoe hikes: Experience winter in a different way

At the gateway to the 3 Valleys, Méribel's guides and mountain leaders open the doors to an unspoilt mountain world. In the tranquil setting of the Plan de Tuéda - Europe's largest cembra grove - between silent forests, animal tracks and cosy refuges, every outing becomes a timeless interlude.

Snowshoe trekking at dusk under a starry sky, a Zen walk to breathe differently and refocus, a day of wilder exploration in the Tarentaise, or a Nordic walking session to combine fitness and oxygen: our itineraries combine discovery, well-being and authenticity.

As a family or with friends, let us guide you through the elegance of a simple and essential adventure: walking, observing, feeling.

FAQ

Snowshoe trekking in Méribel allows you to discover another facet of the 3 Vallées: unspoilt forests, wild fauna, mountain heritage and unique panoramas. Away from the ski slopes, you'll be immersed in a calm and authentic natural environment.

Highlights include the Plan de Tuéda nature reserve, the largest cembra grove in Europe, the peaceful undergrowth of the Plan des Génisses and the Col de la Lune, not forgetting the warm welcome at the Christ and Plan refuges. The guides choose the itinerary according to the conditions and the level of the participants.

The Méribel guide office offers several formats:

  • Evening walk: magical atmosphere at sunset, return under the stars, sometimes with a meal in a refuge or restaurant.
  • Zen walk: a walk based on breathing and mindfulness, to refocus in the heart of the mountains.
  • Day outing: go further and explore the wild areas of the Tarentaise.
  • Nordic Walking: a sporty, invigorating version of walking, with specially adapted poles.

Snowshoe trekking is accessible to all: families, groups of friends, experienced sportsmen and women or holidaymakers looking for relaxation. The guides adapt the route and pace to suit each participant. You can also choose more physical outings for those looking for a sustained effort.

Snowshoes and poles can be hired from the shop. We supply avalanche safety equipment. You'll need to bring mountain boots or après-ski boots that aren't too bulky, warm clothing suited to the conditions, a small rucksack and water, as well as gloves, a hat and sunglasses.

Our guides know the forests, passes and valleys of Méribel and the Tarentaise region inside out. They choose the itinerary best suited to the conditions and the group, ensure safety and enrich the walk with their knowledge of the terrain, the small fauna hidden in winter and the local mountain heritage.
