You have to seize the opportunities because the season is short, from December to February! FAQ

Ice climbing involves using ice axes and crampons to climb a wall of ice formed by the freezing of a stream or waterfall. Méribel's guides will take you on a tour of this technical and aesthetic winter sport, offering unique sensations in a mountain setting frozen in winter.

For private hire, Méribel's mountain guides can take you to suitable sites in the 3 Valleys, or further afield in the Tarentaise to find the best conditions. Depending on the weather and the ice, the routes can range from short introductory stunts to longer, more challenging lines.

The Méribel guides will adapt the outing to your level. A first experience of climbing or mountaineering is a plus, but beginners can discover the activity on easy routes, while experienced climbers can tackle more technical stunts.

The guides provide specific technical equipment (ice axes, crampons, helmet, harness). All you need to bring is warm, appropriate clothing, technical gloves, mountain boots or ski boots compatible with crampons and a day's rucksack.

To guarantee safety and quality of supervision, ice climbing is practised in small groups: generally one or two people per guide, up to 4 for beginners. This allows for personalised learning and a pace adapted to each individual.

Méribel's guides are perfectly familiar with the region's ice conditions and know how to choose the ideal site depending on the weather, your level and your desires. With a private booking, you can be sure of a tailor-made outing, whether it's an introduction to the 3 Valleys, an easy route or a more serious one on one of the many icefalls in the Tarentaise.

In the event of unfavourable conditions for ice climbing, Méribel's mountain guides offer alternatives adapted to the level of the group. These can include winter mountaineering outings, with mixed ridges and snow couloirs, so you can enjoy the mountain in a different and safe way, even if the ice is not passable.
